Last day of school. Finally summer vacation for our children. Yesterday the final goodby for the eldest in school. They were brought one by one at the school entrance by the teachers. The parents waiting to pick them up. All blowing confettie in their hair while giving them applause. What an emotional day this must have been for the parents. It will take some time for my children to have this moment. Enjoying every minute before they are off to high school.
I’m off to school now on last time before the break. Looking forward to summer but oh my all these goodbyes to teachers and friends. When one door closes.....
Have a lovely thursday everyone.

Happy sunday from my home to yours. Small garden in a vase, summer in a vase. Whenever I can get peonies I will go and buy them. So happy to see these bright pink ones yesterday at the saturday market. Pink and yellow. Coreopsis flower as a happy filler. If I have to choose between green leaves or blooms... I will always choose blooms over greens as a filler. Have a delicious sunday and a beautiful bright new week everyone.

Garden of the museum van Loon Amsterdam. Heavenly tranquility in my city. Maybe one of the reasons why I always go overboard with having real flowers in our home. A garden in Amsterdam is extremely rare to have. Happy with our rooftop but nothing beats having your own garden. Every saturday I’m just buying inspiration at the market with flowers to help me with my work. This house and garden one of the most beautiful. Sending you a postcard from Amsterdam. Signing it with love. Up next my sunday flowers. My small happy garden in a vase.

Rembrandt’s birthday today. “Judith at the banquet of Holofernes” (formely known as Artemisia) 1634 one of my most favorite paintings from my most favorite painter. He would have been 412 today. Unfortunatly not at @rijksmuseum in Amsterdam but at the Prado in Madrid. Museo del Prado a Velazquez, Goya and Rubens heaven, they have only one Rembrandt. Every time I’m there, I have to go and see this one. Back in Amsterdam a flash back to last sunday. Like seeing an old friend in another town. The visit just not complete without it. It is high up on the third floor. There were no others viewing it. The guard called away by someone else. Totally forbidden, I was very much at risk taking this photograph. Sometimes living in the moment isn’t good enough. Didn’t want to leave without capturing this beauty. When you get the chance to see it in real life it will take your breath away. The fabric, the light, colours, the details. Especially the necklace where Rembrandt used the paint so thick it almost looks real and splashes of the canvas. Inspired for days. Happy sunday everyone.

Botanical name Bellis Perennis commonly known as daisy. Bellis from the Latin bellus for pretty and perennis Latin for everlasting. This weeks real daisies recreated in sugar, everlasting for sure. The flower of children. How true. I think this indeed the first flower we could draw when we were children.
I’ll be travelling alone in the next few days. Mixed feelings. Lots of excitement and thoughts always of missing my family, missing my children. Looking forward to friends, laughter and recharge.
Thinking of top quote.
Hope your week is going well. May it continue with prettyness and beautiful everlasting moments.

A few sweet blooms to wish everyone a great weekend. I’m enjoying summer so much. With this warm gorgeous weather in Amsterdam every day already feels a bit like a holiday. Off to the saturday market tomorrow. Fresh blooms and produce. I’ll keep you posted what is offered this week. Happy friday and have the most beautiful weekend!

Halfway through, what a week this has been already. Celebrating my daughters birthday for a couple of days in a row. Yesterday her official birthday party. Climbing with a group of 6 and 7 year olds. It was so amazing to see how they all started just a few meters from the ground and at the end most of them ending at the very top of the incredibly high walls. More daring with each turn. Pushing boundries for sure. I have a lot to learn from them. I promised myself another time... I will go up that daunting high wall. Have a lovely day everyone. Let’s try and keep pushing boundries.

Happy sunday from my home to yours. Not many flowers say summer to me more than hydrangeas. Various colours arranged with peonies still here. Could we ever get bored with peonies? One more time one of my favorite blooms. Colders days this past week. A heatwave expected next week. I’m sure the warmth will be the final blow for all the peonies. Here with daisies and sweet william. I love the milkweed flowers filling up space just as the blue brightness of the cornflowers. Summer and garden in a vase this week. Wishing you a lovely sunday and a bright new week everyone.
