One of the things I love about travelling to new places is experiencing different cultures, particularly different festivals and holidays. We were lucky enough to be in Bali last year for Galungan and our host happily dressed us up appropriately and off we went to the local temples, it was incredible how welcoming everyone was. For those of you that haven’t heard of it, it’s one of the most important religious ceremonies and marks the time when the ancestral spirits visit the Earth. You can now get there too with cheap flights from Melbourne to Bali with @AirAsia.
I’ve also been in Thailand during Songkran which was a lot of fun. One day I’m hoping to visit the Lantern Festival and Holi Festival. Have you experienced any festivals in other countries?

Since opening in 1997 the Mason Elephant Park & Lodge has garnered a reputation around the world as the blueprint on how elephants should be cared for in captivity. Set in the misty hinterlands of Taro, this multi-award winning park is Bali’s only dedicated elephant rescue facility and is home to 31 endangered Sumatran elephants, 4 of which were born here. The park provides guests with the opportunity to interact and learn about these gentle giants while giving the elephants a comfortable and safe environment.

Chillin and relaxin on this cute shelter while listening to the sound of nature 🍃
Gitgit Waterfall is about 11 kilometres from the township of Singaraja. Featuring a number of smaller waterfalls as well as the impressive 40 metre high Gitgit, it is a popular spot for tourists to take some happy snaps as part of a tour. But why photograph something from a distance when you can experience it up close and personal? Gitgit is a great canyoning spot for those looking for a bit of everything. If you like to test your physical endurance and agility, canyoning combines rock climbing, river trekking, cliff jumping and abseiling in one. Add some water slides, natural springs and amazing scenery and you have yourself a perfect Bali adventure. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
