Sharing My life journey on making changes: Good health choices 🏃
On this day August 22 2016 I went to see my doctor as I was struggling to get out of bed, my immunity was very low and I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue, my body was telling me I was overdoing it and I needed to make some different lifestyle choices. I was on a downward spiral which I didn’t know was going to get worse before it got better.
Doctor 1. looked at me as I I told him all my symptoms and all that was happening in my life at the time and I was feeling emotionally drained too and advised I needed antidepressants 💊
I didn’t like that advise it didn’t seem right, I had seen a few people on antidepressants, with mood swings when changing medication, rapid weight gains, food cravings and it felt like you could easily rely on it too.
Docter 2. Did the same checks and listened then advise me I needed to run. For the first time in ages I laughed at this preposterous idea as I had advised the doctor I was struggling to get out of bed, and feed myself dinner I was literally burnt out.
Anyway he ensured me start small, so I did.
So off I went, at first a 10 minute walk, to walking every day to run once a week, to a 5km run to eventually a 5km run everyday.
When eventually my mind kicked into gear and my body knew what It needed to do.
I then had sore feet from running, so I tried rowing in the gym, same principle, slow at first then hitting a few kms at a time, then swimming and eventually the gym where I got a PT...
What happened to me, the shackles of poor health, a bad mentally state, were wiped clean, I was free baby.
So two years my run this morning was ever so blissful and the importance of good health is not only important to me it’s the only road I take. Not only fueling my body but my mind too.
Running has always been a love of mine, each time I tie up my shoe laces and put one foot forward I realise Its a step in the right direction to a longer healthier more fulfilling life.
Running has the abilities to get all your blood flowing, engage your muscles, at times inflict pain and clear your head from wasted thought's.
