Let’s go on a safari with Kader and his new safari bus shape sorter! 🦁 Each of the animals in this set go into the matching windows on the bus (they’re also great for imaginative play !)⠀
Shape sorters are great for developing motor skills and problem solving. It’s also a fantastic activity for helping to identify different shapes, animals and colours 💛 Use KADER10 for 10% off your own safari shape sorting bus
Self portraits from my 4 year old boy happens as often as someone taking a candid well lit picture of me [at the right angle].....so like, never 😂. I’m happy that he loves to kick a ball, construct things with blocks, or make necklaces with beads, but drawing a picture of a person, nope, no time for that! Up until I added the option of drawing blood, and playing with band aids [🤷🏽♀️ you gotta play the game...to win 🙌🏽]. And let me tell you folks, this activity was a winner 🥇!
This activity is a great alternative activity to playing doctors and practise fine motor✔️, motor planning✔️, pretend play✔️ and language skills such as compassion✔️ and emotions✔️. Depending on your little one’s age it can be about just putting the band aids on the body, which is a great finger strength✔️, dexterity✔️ and coordination✔️ activity. Or for the older kids it can be a multi-step approach with drawing a face, the ouchies, using the doctor tools etc. The opportunity of empathetic-compassionate language✔️ and talking about coping strategies when managing pain✔️ adds a wonderful addition to talking about blooding ouchies and crashes and bumps 🙋🏽♀️.
Looking forward to which of our awesome dads or moms will be the first yo try this.
It looks simple enough

It has literally been a year since I have posted here 😂 the last year was a doozy for our family, with the unexpected passing of my mom and the birth of our third baby, so I wasn’t in a place to be making much 👎 Buuuuut I’m getting back into my creative groove and have been doing blankets for pregnant friends, of which I have many 😂 I was thinking of possibly making some RTS items to sell again but I need some feedback!
1. Helloooooo is anyone out there still? lol
2. What are you interested in? Bears, bunnies, hats, blankets? I don’t think I’ll do bows again, rather stick to the crochet side, less hot glue burns #realtalk
So clue me in! Do I let my shop disappear into the night or should I come back with some RTS stuff?

💚 Who knew our lentils Play would lead to ice cream shop Role Play, but it did! That’s the beauty of play and following a child’s interests! 🧡 Refer to previous post to see how we got to this stage! 💛 So after visiting an ice-cream-shop-of-dreams on holiday, we recreated our own 💚 My brainwave came when I realised I had bought a building noodle starter pack from a local art shop. These coloured puffs lent themselves to being sorted and added to Tupperware to make an ice cream shop to be proud of! 💜 Can you tell I’ve missed being at home and playing with my boy?! This is exactly why I do what I do!! 💙

Noodles- packaging puffs work just as well!! #playideas#pretendplay#roleplaywednesday#icecreamshop#playprompts
I was wrapping up this frozen food set for a customer, and I got a little emotional thinking about how this all started.
Before Ellie could even walk, we bought her a little play kitchen. She had a tea set and a few other play food items that she was already playing pretend with so well, and we really wanted to foster that budding imagination. She took to the kitchen immediately — throwing things in her pots and pans and stirring them around, trying to turn on the sink faucet and constantly opening and closing the fridge and freezer doors. She had several soft fruits and veggies and other fridge items (some bought and some that I’d made), but if you’ve ever shopped for play food you know that the freezer selection is usually limited to waffles and ice cream and made out of wood, which I didn’t trust my infant softball pitcher with! When she would open that little freezer and look inside to find nothing, I knew I had to come up with something for her to store in that space too. So I took a look in our REAL freezer and thought, “Bags of frozen veggies for quick dinner sides and berries for smoothies... that’s what she needs!” So I created a simple design for some soft, stuffed freezer bags, and I personalized them so they would be one of a kind, just like Ellie! She loved playing with these new toys so much that it inspired me to make lots of other personalized items for her play kitchen. A year later, after encouragement from family and friends (and a gently nudging from God), I took a leap of faith and opened our Etsy shop — Ellie’s Little Market — to make personalized toys for other little kitchens. Starting a small, handmade business is definitely hard work, but I’ve found that it is also incredibly rewarding! And now, 9 months in, I have to say that these little frozen food bags are probably still my favorite thing to make!
